Alisha is on the cusp of completing her Master of Counselling Psychology at City University of Seattle, preparing to transition into her role as a provisional psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP).
With a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology, Alisha has a background in trauma-informed care from her previous role as a victim support worker. In this capacity, she provided critical support to high-risk individuals escaping domestic violence, advocating for their housing, income, legal, and mental health needs. This impactful work inspired her dedication to counselling psychology and her commitment to guiding clients through life’s challenges.
Alisha creates a therapeutic environment where clients feel empowered as the experts of their own journeys. She fosters a space that is both grounding and intentional pacing, listening with deep intention and curiosity to understand the diverse backgrounds of her clients. Her approach helps clients make sense of their emotions, build awareness, and develop effective coping strategies. Alisha values authenticity and compassion, believing that healing begins when clients feel truly seen and heard. Her gentle, non-judgmental presence is a cornerstone of her therapeutic practice.
Her adaptable, client-centered approach integrates various modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), mindfulness-based practices, and somatic grounding techniques. Alisha tailors her methods to meet the unique needs of each client, understanding that healing is not a one-size-fits-all journey.
Alisha has a special interest in supporting adults, as they address concerns such as anxiety, depression, burnout, loss and grief, relationship difficulties, work and school-related stress, life transitions, and healing from unhealthy relationships. She is eager to accompany you on your path to healing, growth, and self-discovery.
Beyond her professional life, Alisha finds joy in nature, travel, and culinary exploration. An outdoor enthusiast, she enjoys activities like snowboarding, hiking, running, snorkelling, surfing, and paddleboarding, embracing the sunshine and all the adventures it brings.
