Maigan is finishing the research component of her Master of Counselling, and then plans to register with the College of Alberta Psychologists as a Registered Provisional Psychologist. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Sociology and has done additional training in Play Therapy and in Crisis Management.
Maigan believes that therapy should be tailored to each client, incorporating elements of their unique life and experiences so each meeting feels authentic and meaningful, and paves the way for change. She uses a person-centred and strength-based approach, and aims to infuse humour into healing, to create an open and comfortable space for all. Maigan believes all folks have the strategies and tools within themselves to navigate life’s challenges, and she feels honoured to work alongside clients as they uncover and reconnect with these strengths.
Maigan works with children 6-9 years old, teens 15-18 years old, and adults of all ages. She has experience and an interest in working with neurodiverse individuals, ADHD, depression, anxiety, stress management and burnout, interpersonal/relationship issues, life transitions, and emotional regulation. Although she primarily pulls from a person-centred and strength-based approach, she incorporates elements of attachment theory, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), mindfulness, solution-focused therapy, and somatic therapies.
When she's not at work, Maigan loves to spend her spare time gardening, hanging out with her chickens, reading, and relaxing outside with her two dogs and a good cup of tea.
